Complementary and Alternative health practices involve a great many services. A number of these services are procured from practitioners who are not members of licensed professional groups. These practices can include reflexology, polarity, nutrition, counseling, hypnotherapy, naturopathy, and reiki.

Currently in Ohio, many of these practitioners can be charged criminally for practicing medicine without a license. The boards that regulate licensed practice in Ohio do not need a consumer complaint or even any evidence of harm in order to take action. Practitioners are often forced to spends thousands of dollars defending themselves in order to stay in business and avoid felony convictions.

By restricting the practitioners ability to provide health services, the state of Ohio is taking away YOUR RIGHT to choose.

What can you do? OHFC needs your help now! For the past few years, OHFC has depended on the generosity of a small number of volunteers and donors. More volunteers and adequate funding are needed to enable us to work for a legislative solution to this problem.

Every Ohioan has a vested interest in changing Ohio law and making complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) more available. The licensure boards and the medical associations have maintained their monopolies on the delivery of healthcare services because they are organized and they have access to vast monetary resources. If every practitioner and consumer of CAM practices was active in the democratic process, imagine the impact we could have!
